I just finished expanding ScanToExcel across Europe. Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, and Dutch are now fully live. Here's the story behind it – and why I believe AI should be for everyone.
Why Not?
After launching German and French support in January, the 'coming soon' list was staring at me: Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Dutch. Five languages. Hundreds of millions of potential users.
Here's the thing – once you've built the infrastructure for multi-language support, adding more languages becomes almost trivial. The hard part was building the system. The translation? That's where AI shines.
So I thought: why wait? Spanish alone has over 500 million speakers. Portuguese brings in Brazil and Portugal. Italian, Polish, Dutch – each one opens doors to millions more people who deserve access to AI-powered tools.
The New European Pages
Every new language has a fully localized experience:
scantoexcel.com/es
🇵🇹 Portuguese (Português)scantoexcel.com/pt
🇮🇹 Italian (Italiano)scantoexcel.com/it
🇵🇱 Polish (Polski)scantoexcel.com/pl
🇳🇱 Dutch (Nederlands)scantoexcel.com/nl
Each page includes localized navigation, converter pages, blog posts, FAQ, and all documentation. It's not just a translation – it's a complete experience in your native language.
Democratizing AI – The Real Mission
Here's a fact that bothers me: only about 20% of the world speaks English. That means 80% of humanity is being left behind in the AI revolution. Every time someone builds an English-only tool, they're excluding billions of people.
My mission with ScanToExcel is simple: make AI-powered OCR as cheap and accessible as possible for everyone. Not just for English speakers in wealthy countries. For everyone.
With this expansion, we now support over 1 billion speakers across English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, and Dutch. That's a start – but we're not stopping here.
“Only 20% of the world speaks English. Shouldn't we share the amazing power of AI with the other 80%?”
What's Coming Next
I have some awesome features in the pipeline that I can't wait to share. More improvements to accuracy, speed, and user experience are coming soon.
Thanks for being here. Whether you're reading this in English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Polish, or Dutch – you're part of this journey now.
